Blue Light Horse Show and Forces Equine Dressage Championship 2017
West Mids Equestrian Section take home the ribbons!!
On the 14th/15th October 2017 nine Equestrian Section members headed off to Moreton Morrell Equestrian College, Warwickshire to take part in the annual Blue Light Horse Show. This competition is run alongside the Forces Equine Dressage Championship which is run on the Sunday.
The team consisted of PC Lisa Hansford, PC Jac Preece,PC Diana Humphries, PC Libby Moss, PC Susanne Codd, Inspector Jax Nicholson and her daughter Danni and retired members Diana Shaw and new member Linda Anderson. Members were up at the crack of dawn on the Saturday to settle the horses into their stables and kick of the show jumping competition at 10am. First up was Libby Moss and Jac Preece in the 70cm. Libby jumped a double clear finishing in third place. Jac Preece also had a good round an unfortunate spook left her finishing in 6th place.
The 80cm class saw Libby, Danni riding her mums horse, Jac Preece and Susanne all jump a Clear first round putting them through to the jump off. Danni finished off in third place with a great jump off, likewise Jac P also flew round finishing in Sixth place. Libby and Susanne were left just out the placing. Linda and Lisa both jumped a lovely first round but had unfortunate poles down.
In the 90cm class Susanne and Di Humphries jumped lovely clear rounds again putting them through to the jump off. Di showed her show jump experience speeding round the jump off into final third position. Susanne finished in sixty. Linda and Lisa again jumped lovely first rounds but the odd unfortunate pole put them out of the jump off.
In the 1metre class Diana Humphries flew round into the jump off then Just tipping the last pole left her finishing in third. Well done.
With the first day completed West Mids A Team took second place (Di S, Libby and Linda)Horses were bedded down for the night and we all headed to the pub!
Sunday was the Forces Equine Dressage Championship which is run alongside the Blue Lights Dressage Competition.
The Intro Class kicked off the day bright and early and Diana Shaw and Susanne Codd were first up. Diana with her young and inexperienced horse Denby showed what a future dressage Diva's they will be winning the class with Susanne showing how all her hard work payed off coming in a close Second place.
Next up was the Prelim 18 Class which most of our members entered. All the hard training throughout the year payed off in a strong class with Lisa coming second place and Diana Shaw just behind her in third. New member Linda Anderson rode a super dressage test to finish in an eventual 6th position. All other riders posted great scores in a large class.
Jax Nicholson was the only rider who had qualified for the championship Prelim Class and rode a lovely test coming a fantastic 6th place against tough competition.
The Novice 27 Class which was the last class of the day. Danni Nicholson pulled out a fantastic test to win the Section, Lisa was third, Libby fourth, Jac P fifth and Di Humphries sixth.
Along with Jac Preece winning the 70cm combined class, Libby moss and Susanne Codd coming second and third respectively in the 80cm combined class, West Mids B Team coming third overall for the dresssge (Di S, Danni, Jac P and Lisa ) and most members getting rosettes for overall positions it's fair to say we had a lot of rosettes!!
