NORMAN “HURDLES” TO VICTORY AT COB HOUSE
On Thursday 4th August 2016 round six of the WMPACS saw 21 anglers take on Laugherne Island Pool at Cob House Fishery Wichenford Worcestershire, a venue known for big weights but also known for an abundance of rules where even the fish have to be on their best behaviour!
So after each angler had wiped his feet, washed his hands, blew his nose and handed his note in from his mom to say he was allowed to fish, they competed on a day that saw sunshine, showers and a cold north easterly wind.
The outcome saw Norman “Hurdles” Nicholls weighing in with an impressive 109lb 12oz followed closely with a weight of 107lb 06oz by Larry Byrne, who thought, before the match and being the start of the Olympics, he would perform a reverse pike 2 ½ twist double somersault into the pool ! (basically he fell over his box and fell in) Third on the day was Bill Rutherford with 82lb 6oz followed in fourth by Lee Collins with 76lb-00. There were also section wins for Andy Cleaver, Martin Bamber, Dick Partridge and Dave Parker
Round seven takes place on 25th August 2016 at the renowned Lardford Lakes fishery in Worcestershire and if anyone would like to come along and join in and see just what we get up to then please contact Andy Cleaver at Sandwell LPU
