Marshalling team at the Severn Valley Stages Rally
Saturday 3rd June 2017 at Radnor Forest Mid Wales
We had a lot to cover including recording the competitors time at the end of Radnor Forest stage, operating a Passage Control, this entailed taking time cards from the competitors and passing their recorded time via phone link, back to Rally HQ, in Builth Wells.
We also had to monitor and control service crews who needed to attend to the competitors after the Radnor stage.
All went well we had 5 cars left that were about to compete on this special stage, but then over the radio we heard that a competing within the stage was on fire, all attempts to extinguish the fire failed, so the stage was cancelled, eventually the county fire service arrived at the outskirts of Radnor Forest and was then escorted in to the forest by our very own 'Paul Clackett'.
The highlight of Paul's Day. (Paul now wants to be a Fire
Sadly the competing car could not be saved, burnt out wreck. The day went well otherwise and 10 members from the Motor Club assisted at the event.
