Motor Club HRCR
Each year the HRCR (Historic Rally Car Register club) hold an open day at the motor museum Gaydon Warwickshire, so event organisers can display/offer events for 2018. So to start the year as we normally do some members of the Motor Club' including Dave Williams, Mark Wakelam, Jeff Reynolds, Garry Cheqetts, Trevor Whitehead & Henry Adams, went on Saturday 13th January 18, to see what type of events were being offered.
It was especially important for Jeff & Garry as they have decided after a very long break to return as competitors to rallying, so hopefully this year we will have not only Jeff & Garry competing but also Paul Clackett returns to rallying after his circuit racing last year, all good news for the club.
We had good chat with many people, including a coffee break with some of the rally event organisers for 2018, I think Dave managed a couple of new members as well?
As per usual we will be covering some of the regular events we have covered for many years, but hoping to diversify this year into more classic and trails events, we certainly had a few to choose from. As we moved amongst the various organisers many requested our services, I think taking up all the offers that were made, then we would be out every weekend throughout the year, which obviously is not possible.
Mark Wakelam met up and had a chat with Paddy Hopkirk the famous rally driver from the 60s, Mark had been at an IAM (Institute of Advanced
Motorist) meeting on Wednesday 10th January, where Paddy Hopkirk gave a talk, so Paddy was very keen to get feedback from Mark about the evening.
