Motor Club update March/ April 2018
Following the first committee meeting of 2018 we discussed various items and events for the coming year. Dave Williams has sent out membership renewal for 2018 and so far membership is looking good.
It is encouraging to see that we have a strong rally team of members for 2018; they will be competing in various rallies. We hope to see and hear more from the teams including, Paul Clackett and Scott Dance, Jody Bowcott and David Millard, Paul Farley and Ian Henderson and Jeff Reynolds and Gary Jecketts.
Both Paul Clackett and Jody Bowcott are out on their first rallies in March. Paul is doing the Tour of Epynt, first time out in his new Subaru Impreza and Jody is doing the AGBO Stages at Weston Park in his Smith and Jones powered MK2 Escort.
Both are then competing in the first closed road Rally in the UK being run under the new Closed Road Motorsport Legislation, the Corbeau Seats Rally. This is an Historic event for rallying in this country and hopefully more clubs and councils will follow their lead.
The marshalling team are hoping to give support on many of these events that the rally teams will be competing on.
We are always looking for help and support on events, so please if you can come out and join us contact any member of the Club Committee.
The marshalling team have already been in action giving assistance on the Cambrian Stages Rally, North Wales, Dave Williams along with Craig and Tom Hillman had a very early start and a late finish on this event as they marshalled a section in Penmachno village, Wales.
The marshalling section are looking forward to other rally events and shows throughout the year.
John Stockall, Mark Wakelam and Henry Adams attended an MSA (Motorsport Association) training day in February at Telford to keep up with the latest information and regulations for rally marshals. It was certainly interesting day with some of the new regulations for 2018 being discussed. This type of training is a requirement for rally marshals every two years.
Motor Cycle Section had a good year in 2017; Nathan Jackson will be competing in the No Limits 1000 Newcomers Championship this year on his BMW S1000RR, with his first round being in May at Donnington Park. Nathan is moving away from the team endurance racing this year.

After visiting HRCR Day held at Gaydon in January involvement with classic trials and classic car tours run by HERO are looking promising.
There is a keen interest to return to basic grass roots of rallying - road rallies and support on certain events has already been confirmed. I think this is for the few hardy marshals who are prepared to be up all night - or want to relive their youth.
The club is at present without a classic car section; this was tried some years ago, but never seemed to get the following as probably it should have. However, with the increased new interest in classic cars which is clear to see especially at the Classic Car show NEC and as some club members have classic cars, now is the time to rekindle that interest.
New for 2018, Sunday 1st July Mystery Tour, Ideal for all the family, starting and finishing at Halfpenny Green, Vineyards with a cream tea, the route will be through the picturesque Shropshire countryside.
