Rally Isle of Man
Our role on this year's event was that of stage start and finish crews, so it was very busy. Our first stage was the Super Special evening stage which was run on Douglas Promenade, 2 cars on together, lots of spectator's, & the press (no real pressure on us!!!) this actually went well.
The following day the stage we covered was a bit of problem, there was no start crew so Matt Crowe & Paul Clackett volunteered to take this on, neither had ever done a special stage start before, but they did a first class job. At the end of this stage we had to cover the flying finish, stop Line & also a passage control, very very busy, then disaster as the flying finish timing kit & Tag system went faulty. Hence last few competitors had incorrect times, we held on to clocks and time cards & returned to Rally HQ,at Douglas where things were sorted out (see one pic Dave Williams in discussion with timing officials at Rally HQ) The last stage of the rally we covered flying finish timing/stop line & passage control at the end of the longest & final stage of the rally, no real pressure? and we were right outside the TT Grandstand, for all to see, 'nervous' yes a little, but everything went well/ text book finish.
