This year will be the sixteenth official Police Sport UK Ladies’ Golf Championship. The event will take place between May 10th – 12th at the Craigielaw Golf Club, Aberlady, East Lothian, accommodation has been reserved on site. There is alternative accommodation in the local area if you wish to make your own arrangements.
The closing date for entries is March 27th. This is to enable us to collate all the information, to supply the final numbers, golf details, room shares and menu choices to the hotel within the required time frames.
Registration will be between 1030 and 1230 on Sunday 10th May. Twelve tee times are reserved for the practice rounds from 1300, playing in fours. The committee will tee off first, so that they can finish ready for their committee meeting. The Championship itself consists of a 36 hole stroke play competition comprising 18 holes medal round on Monday 11th May and 18 holes medal round on Tuesday 12th. There will be the scratch championship, as well as concurrent handicap competitions divided into three categories consisting of handicaps up to 9 inclusive, 10 – 18 and 19 – 36. The players with the top eight gross scores and those with the top eight net scores will qualify for the teams for the PSUK representative matches in 2021 against the Army (scratch), United Kingdom Armed Forces UKAF (scratch) and Royal Navy (handicap). These teams with reserves will be announced at the presentation lunch on Tuesday.
All entrants are required to have a current CONGU handicap and to be a member of a golf club. Trolley pullers and caddies are permitted. If your handicap changes after you submit the original application and before the 1st May, please update Janet Gosden with the details.
All players are strongly advised to ensure they have adequate golf insurance cover and that all your golf equipment conforms to the R & A Competition Rules (e.g. size of drivers, golf balls etc). See www.randa.org for further details.
The Pro shop have numerous pull trolleys for hire at £5 per day and three electric trolleys at the rate of £15 per round, which can be reserved on a first come-first served basis, bookable in advance with the Pro shop on 01875 870800. Golf buggies will only be permitted to be used in the Championship by a player having an appropriate Medical Certificate. The cost to hire a buggy is £30 per round.
The Championships are intended to be as inclusive as possible. Full details of the qualification are on the Police Sport UK website – see www.policesportuk.com. Those ladies eligible are serving police officers, police staff, cadets and special constables and retired police staff and retired police officers. Retired entrants must be in actual receipt of a police pension or police staff pension. All entrants must be a current member of the Force Sports and Social Association either where they serve, served or where they reside.
The basic package includes two nights bed and breakfast, two evening meals, the Tuesday lunch and all the golf. Monday lunch is not included, as some players may opt to go off the site after their round. The AGM for the section will take place on Monday evening, before dinner.
Any competitors planning to arrive the day before, or to leave the day after, can arrange accommodation direct with the venue on 01875 870800 at a cost of £120 for a room and breakfast quoting our event. Payment for anything other than the packages below is the responsibility of the player concerned, and should be made direct with the venue. Please be warned that the venue is already very busy for the Saturday night so there may not be available rooms.

1, Full package for a single room – £412
Please note there are only 25 rooms. Ladies are encouraged to be willing to share a twin room, which can be arranged for you. It is anticipated that otherwise, we may not have enough rooms for everyone who wishes to stay on site.
2, 2 persons sharing a twin or double room (each person pays) – £292
3, Price for non-golfer sharing a twin or double room – £172
Please liaise with Janet Gosden if the non-competitor wants to play golf on the Sunday, as some tee times may be available. The green fee will be £30 per round.
4, Price for golfer that is not staying in the hotel (meals £52 , golf £90, entry fee £30) – £172
5, Price for a non-stayer, non-player for food only (£52)

For those intending to travel by air, the nearest airport is Edinburgh. This airport is about 40 minutes from the course. Collection can be provided for those arriving Sunday morning, and may be available in the afternoon. If possible, please try booking flights which arrive before 1200 Sunday, and to book flights which leave no earlier than 1800hrs on the Tuesday. The nearest railway station is Longniddry, which is connected to Edinburgh. Collection can be arranged from the railway station. A taxi from the airport may cost £60. It is appreciated that some may choose to fly Saturday. There is the possibility of assistance with collection on Saturday, depending on where you are staying Saturday night.
IMPORTANT
In the event that a competitor has to withdraw from the competition, a refund of all or part of the monies paid may be considered, but will depend on any refund by the organisations concerned to the Ladies’ Golf Section. No refund will be given if the opportunity to take the practice round is not taken.
