Members of the WMP Motor club Mark Wakelam and Trevor Whitehead teamed up and entered the event in Mark Wakelam’s recently restored Ford Escort which took place on Sunday 27th June 2021, and raised £1000, for charity.
The start was at the Bowling Green Pub in Litchfield and cars were flagged away by TV celebrity antique auctioneer Charles Hanson, with a route covering some 60 miles visiting places to include Barr Beacon, Blythfield reservoir and the finish at Bishton Hall, which a Grade ll Listed Georgian Mansion, Wolesley Bridge, in Staffordshire.
Marks Escort performed well and gave no trouble, unlike the navigator Trevor who inadvertently at one point during route turned over two pages of the road-route book by mistake this caused a little confusion until the mistake was realised, then back on the route with no other mistakes.
