In searing heat, West Midlands Police were on fire when they became the tops dogs in the first Emergency Services Football 5 a side competition.
The event which was held at Goals Rowley Regis attracted teams from all over the Uk in both Men’s and Woman’s sections.
30 men’s teams were entered including 3 from WMP. After remaining unbeaten in 4 group games WMP Team B captained by the mature Richard “the cat” Ash Dy Lpu went through with a 100 % record. After beating NW Ambulance and Thames Valley Police in the 1/4 and semi-finals a tough final lay ahead against Tyne and Wear Fire Service.
In an end-to-end game WMP came out on top with a thrilling 5-4 victory to ensure the inaugural UK Cup stayed in the Midlands.
